Since we released the SkyDrive app for Windows and Windows RT back in October, it has been great to see all the ways people are using it. People are accessing, viewing, and sharing files that they’ve stored on SkyDrive, as well as saving files directly to SkyDrive from other apps. Today, we’re excited to announce changes to how you’ll see SkyDrive from your Start screen.
Today we are launching Excel surveys on SkyDrive. Excel surveys are a great way to collect info from your friends and family to better organize and plan activities. Now, whether you need to plan a carpool, organize a potluck dinner, or get your kickball team together, you can do it right from SkyDrive with an Excel survey.
Over the past few months we’ve seen great apps integrate with SkyDrive, for example document readers like GoodReader or Bookviser and productivity apps like Podio or RightSignature. But we also heard that developers wanted greater flexibility in file types supported by SkyDrive. And as more and more developers have been building Windows 8 apps, they’ve appreciated the Windows 8 file picker integration with SkyDrive and wanted us to similarly make it simple to integrate a SkyDrive file picker with their websites.
Since we launched the Outlook.com preview two weeks ago, we have been truly humbled by the reception. We’ve received hundreds of great comments, participated in thousands of threads on @reddit, @gizmodo, @neowin and are excited to share that, as of today, more than 10 million people have signed up and started using Outlook.com.
